Bathroom Renovation in Hampton – Marble, Herringbone & Brushed Gold
A full bathroom transformation in Hampton (TW12) – before, during and after

Before…
This was a tired bathroom in Hampton. It had dated beige tiles, a plain bath and a basin and toilet that had seen better days. The client wanted something brighter and more modern that felt a bit more luxurious, without changing the layout of the room.
The work
We stripped the room back to bare walls and subfloor, taking out all the old tiles and sanitaryware. The pipework was adjusted to suit a concealed thermostatic shower valve and the new basin position. The floor was levelled and boarded so it would give a solid, flat base for the new floor.
The walls were tiled in large-format marble-effect tiles from floor to ceiling around the bath. The big tiles mean fewer grout lines and a cleaner, more high-end finish. On the floor we laid a wood-effect herringbone pattern. It takes a lot more cutting and setting out than a straight lay, but it's what gives the room its character.
After…
The finished bathroom has:
- a new bath with a fixed glass shower screen
- a brushed-gold thermostatic shower with a rainfall head and handset
- a tall brushed-gold heated towel rail
- a deep green vanity unit with gold handles and a gold mixer tap
- a close-coupled toilet
- marble-effect walls with a herringbone floor to tie it all together
The brushed gold against the marble and the green vanity gives the room a warm, boutique-hotel feel. All of it was done within the original footprint.
